Peneda: The Austrian Fortifications

Peneda: Heritage Resort

The Austrian fortifications on the peninsula of Peneda were built at the beginning of the 20th century: the coastal polygonal armored fort of Fort Peneda, the coastal polygonal ballistic battalion Cavarolla, the coastal battalion of Naviglio and the shore battalion of Punta Peneda. Two buildings were built during the World War I: torpedo launch battalion and the anti-aircraft battlefield. In addition to the fortifications at Peneda, there is a lighthouse from the end of the 19th century. Austrian fortifications are completely out of function and damaged by environmental changes and human activities.

Project Heritage Resort Peneda aims to redesign and repurpose existing military architecture.
