The Kitchen Display has three operational views: Orders for live tickets, Item totals for all-day production counts, and Completed for bumped work. Use the view that answers the question before refiring or recalling anything.
Work from Orders
Orders is the live production board. Select one station for normal line work or All for expo and diagnosis. The station tabs show open counts, while the header summarizes Avg Wait, Urgent, and Preparing.
Use the header controls to recall the last completed order, turn the new-ticket sound on or off, enter fullscreen, switch theme, or refresh. The recall icon is unavailable when there is no completed ticket. Refresh reloads the current data; it does not submit, fire, or duplicate an order.
Open Kitchen status > Show controls to review open tickets, urgent orders, maximum wait, station load, course timing, station spacing, and auto-complete status. Treat workload recommendations as operating guidance and confirm the affected tickets before changing routing or timing.
Read Item totals
Item totals aggregates pending quantities across live kitchen work. Use it to answer how many portions remain across tickets, not to replace the order-level board. Course timing and station routing still control when and where each underlying ticket appears.
If the total seems wrong, clear an unintended station filter and compare live orders, updates, remakes, and completed tickets. Do not create another POS order merely to change an all-day count.
Recover work from Completed
Completed shows bumped orders for the current business day. Recall sends completed work back to the live board. Remake creates intentional new production work. Use Changes for the current update delta and Print kitchen ticket for a configured print route.
The header's recall-last control is a shortcut for the most recent completed ticket. Confirm the order label before using it during a busy service. Recall and Remake have different production effects and should not be used interchangeably.
Respond to Kitchen alerts
The Kitchen alerts strip includes active operational events. KDS SLA breaches are grouped by order so repeated station alerts do not overwhelm the strip; the most severe or longest event is retained. Very old overdue tickets are summarized as backlog.
Choose Seen to acknowledge an unresolved alert without closing it. Choose Done only after the operational issue is resolved. An acknowledged alert remains open until it is marked done. Alert status does not bump, recall, remake, or cancel the related kitchen ticket.
Diagnose a stale or incomplete board
Check the store, station, connection, device heartbeat, and clock, then refresh once. A banner may report old open tickets hidden by the live window; those tickets were not deleted or auto-cancelled. Review Orders with an earlier date range and Completed before firing anything again. Capture the order number, station scope, view, elapsed time, alert status, and screenshot without payment credentials if support is required.
