Display Manager publishes V3 scenes to registered screens. A template, scene, screen assignment, playlist, and schedule are separate objects and must all point to the intended store and display.
Create or choose a scene design
Open Admin → KDS & Guest Displays → Signage Templates. Start from one of the supported V3 designs or an approved expansion renderer. Configure the scene content and preview it before using it on a live screen.
Old digital-menu layouts are retired. Do not rely on a legacy layout name as proof that the current player can render it.
Assign a screen
- Open KDS & Guest Displays → Screens.
- Choose the registered screen.
- Assign the intended V3 scene.
- Save the assignment.
- Open the screen URL using
/digital-menu?screen=<id>and confirm the correct content appears.
Keep the screen ID in the URL stable when changing the assigned scene. This allows the physical player to keep the same launch address while managers change content centrally.
Build a playlist and schedule
- Open KDS & Guest Displays → Playlists & Schedule.
- Create or select a scene playlist.
- Put scenes in the intended playback order.
- Create routing rules using store timezone, date range, weekday, start and end time, priority, and screen.
- Save and review the active rule for the current store time.
Higher-priority or more specific rules can replace a base playlist during a daypart or campaign. When content looks wrong, check the currently active schedule rule before editing the scene itself.
Verify a live screen
- Confirm the screen is registered and assigned to the correct store.
- Confirm its launch URL contains the correct screen ID.
- Confirm the expected scene or playlist is published for the current time.
- Compare the store timezone, weekday, date window, and rule priority.
- Refresh the physical player after a confirmed publish and verify several playlist transitions.
A preview proves the scene can render in the editor. It does not prove the physical screen received the assignment or that the current schedule selects it.
Diagnose common display problems
- Blank screen: verify the launch URL, screen assignment, player network, and that the assigned V3 scene is valid.
- Correct screen but wrong content: inspect active playlist and schedule priority.
- Content appears at the wrong time: verify store timezone and overnight time windows.
- One screen is wrong: compare its assignment with a working screen before changing the shared scene.
Record the store, screen ID, assigned scene, active playlist/rule, expected local time, and player URL when escalating.
