Configure the customer-facing checkout screen

Last updated 2026-08-063 min read

Configure the paired POS transaction display for standby content, live orders, tips, signatures, and receipts.

On this page

Customer Facing Checkout is the dedicated transaction display on the paired secondary monitor of a POS / Store Edge station. It shows standby content when the lane is idle, then changes to the live order, tip, signature, receipt, and completion flow during checkout. It is separate from Signage and the pickup board.

Enable and brand the transaction screen

  1. Open Admin → KDS & Guest Displays → Customer Facing Checkout.
  2. Turn on Enable Customer Facing Checkout under Transaction screen.
  3. Choose a Checkout template.
  4. Enter the Brand name, Primary color, and Accent color.
  5. Upload a Brand logo and, when needed, an Order-side promotion. Upload PNG, JPEG, or WebP files no larger than 10 MB.
  6. Select Save checkout screen.

The screen opens on the paired secondary monitor of the POS / Store Edge station. Enabling this setting does not pair a monitor by itself; complete station activation and display pairing first.

Configure standby content

Use Standby images and ads for the time when the lane has no active transaction. Set Rotation seconds between 3 and 120 seconds, then add text or image slides. A 16:10 landscape image is recommended for a standby image.

The Order-side promotion is different: it appears beside the live order during a transaction. Use the recommended portrait layout so totals and order lines remain readable.

Configure checkout choices

  • Tip choices controls the preset percentages shown to the guest. The page identifies whether tips use the pre-tax subtotal or post-tax total from POS payment policy.
  • Require signature on card checkout adds the signature step for card checkout.
  • Receipt choices controls whether the guest can choose print, email, SMS, or no receipt.

These settings control the customer display experience. They do not change payment-provider readiness, printer routing, tax rules, or the POS station role.

Test before service

Save the settings, open the POS / Store Edge station with its paired secondary monitor, and begin a controlled order. Confirm the display leaves standby mode, updates as items change, shows the intended tip and signature steps, and offers only the configured receipt choices. Complete one approved test payment and confirm the completion state.

If the screen stays on standby, verify that the POS has an active transaction and that the secondary monitor is paired to the correct station. If the wrong content appears, confirm you edited Customer Facing Checkout, not Signage or the pickup board.
