Attach customers, set tax exemption, and confirm pickup

Keep customer attachment, tax exemption, age verification, and physical guest pickup as separate order controls.

Customer attachment, tax exemption, age verification, and guest pickup are separate POS controls. Completing one does not satisfy the others.

Attach the correct customer

Use the customer picker before creating or sending the order when possible. Select the verified profile rather than typing private customer details into an item note. Ellich stores the selected profile on a new order and can update the customer display label while an existing order is still Draft.

An ordinary counter order can show No customer attached. A customer is required only when the chosen workflow depends on a verified profile, such as eligible rewards, packages, linked gift cards, house-account charging, or another customer-specific policy.

If an order is already beyond Draft, do not create a duplicate order just to add a customer label. Preserve the original order and use the supported customer or manager workflow available for its current state.

Remove or restore tax on an order

Use Remove tax only after validating exemption evidence under store policy. The cart changes from Tax is included to Tax is not charged. Use Add tax to restore normal tax.

Ellich supports a tax-mode change while the order is Draft, Submitted, Accepted, In progress, or Ready. It saves the change against the current order version and reloads the calculated total. If another device changed the order first, Ellich refreshes the version and asks you to try again.

Tax exemption is not a line discount, order comp, refund, or way to correct a captured payment. Verify the revised server total before collecting payment. If money was already captured, use the authorized payment correction workflow.

Complete age verification separately

Alcohol in the cart can require Verify customer ID (21+) before payment. For a new counter order, Ellich can require the order to be held first, reopened from Orders, and then verified. Attaching a customer profile does not record age verification automatically.

Confirm guest pickup

Guest pickup records that a counter-service guest physically received the order. Kitchen completion and payment settlement do not record that handoff automatically.

The pickup action does not require a customer name by itself. It requires the outstanding payment to be fully resolved. After confirmation, Ellich records pickup, removes the order from the live customer display, and attempts to close related live KDS tickets. If KDS cleanup reports a warning, preserve the recorded pickup and retry only the cleanup; do not confirm the guest handoff twice.
