Install, configure, and launch Task Starter Packs

Last updated 2026-08-062 min read

Install tenant templates, choose manual or automatic assignment, map staffed roles, and complete rollout evidence.

Task Starter Packs install a reviewed set of task and inventory templates for one tenant. Installing a pack does not create live assignments by itself and does not publish or deploy the application.

Install a Starter Pack

  1. Open Tasks → Starter Packs and choose the closest industry pack.
  2. Review every task template, inventory template, proof requirement, manager-review requirement, and escalation time.
  3. Map each operating target—manager, front of house, back of house, or inventory—to a live role.
  4. Choose Manual or Auto activation and confirm the installation.

Manual activation creates active templates that a manager assigns later. Auto activation configures the templates for balanced automatic assignment to the mapped roles; every required target must have a valid role mapping with active staff. Reinstalling the same pack is idempotent and does not create a second template set.

Change an installed pack

You can update role mappings or activation mode after installation. Enter a configuration reason of at least five characters. Ellich updates the source-tagged templates and writes a configuration audit event. Changing to Auto does not retroactively create assignments for past clock-ins.

When an eligible employee clocks in, the assignment automation can create matching task and inventory assignments for that clock-in and shift. Recurring daypart templates are generated separately by the recurring assignment sweep, so verify recurrence days, timezone, daypart start, due time, and active eligible employees when a recurring task is missing.

Complete the Launch Center

Tasks → Launch Center is a seven-step evidence checklist, not a deployment control. It automatically verifies pack installation, staffed role mappings, an employee task and inventory pilot, and manager approvals. POS/Operations Board verification and the offline recovery drill require manual sign-off. The final owner step requires the earlier evidence, a generated assignment digest notification, and owner sign-off.

Manual sign-offs create append-only audit events and can be revoked when evidence becomes invalid. Launch ready means all seven assignment rollout checks are complete; continue monitoring Shift Assurance for overdue, blocked, rejected, or unreviewed work.
