Publish schedules and manage availability or time off

Last updated 2026-08-061 min read

Create and publish shifts while reviewing availability, conflicts, and employee requests.

On this page

Schedules connect manager planning with the employee's weekly view. Availability and approved time off should be reviewed before publication.

Build and publish a schedule

  1. Open Schedule for the correct location and week.
  2. Create shifts with employee, role, date, start/end time, break, and notes.
  3. Review conflicts, availability, open shifts, and weekly hours.
  4. Save drafts, then publish the approved version.
  5. Confirm employees can see the published week in their app.

Editing a published schedule may create a new revision. Review the current version before restoring or republishing an older plan.

Employee requests

Employees use their own account to submit availability or time-off requests with dates, reason, and any permitted supporting document. Managers approve or reject from the review queue; the request is not approved merely because it was submitted.

Good operating practice

  • Use the restaurant's business timezone for shift boundaries.
  • Check overlapping shifts and overtime risk.
  • Communicate material changes after publication.
  • Keep rejection or override reasons clear for the audit history.
