Apply live updates runs a multi-step update of the connected public website. The overall request can return normally while one or more individual steps still need review.
Read the result before trying again
- Run Apply live updates once.
- Read every step shown in the result, including its Succeeded, Skipped, or failed state.
- Review the warnings and errors beneath the steps.
- Identify the first relevant failed step and the Ellich setting or connection that owns it.
The workflow can include site cleanup, media library, brand, online ordering hours, customer accounts, store visibility, custom pages, guest request capture, custom HTML theme, public forms, pages, homepage, navigation, global styles, header and footer, announcements, blog posts, feature blocks, and the live cache.
Interpret common outcomes
- Succeeded means that step reported success. Verify its customer-facing result at the public URL.
- Skipped can be normal when there is no content to update or the connected site does not support that area. Read the step message and any warning before deciding no action is required.
- Failed or Needs review means the complete live website is not yet proven current, even if the page editor displayed
Saved and applied to the live website. - A warning can identify an unsupported theme area, missing live-site capability, partial media or page result, or an unconfirmed cache refresh.
Public form capture requires its live runtime through the supported Companion integration. A script or configuration message alone is not proof that the public form can submit if that runtime was not confirmed.
Recover safely
- Save the intended content in Ellich.
- Fix only the owner of the failed step: for example, reconnect the live site, correct a page or media item, activate the required live-site module, or repair the relevant commerce or theme setting.
- Run Apply live updates once more.
- Confirm the previously failed step now succeeds and the live cache step completes.
- Open the exact public page in a fresh session and test the changed text, links, media, navigation, and form path.
Do not keep clicking Apply live updates without reading the step results. Repeated full updates do not repair an invalid input, missing capability, or broken connection, and can make the evidence harder to interpret.
