Configure product policy and kiosk recommendations

Last updated 2026-08-063 min read

Save runtime-backed availability and kiosk recommendations while recognizing stored-preference boundaries.

On this page

Product Settings stores tenant product-policy preferences. The currently verified runtime-backed controls on this page are Availability Policy and Kiosk "You might also like" Controls. Other controls are saved preferences and do not activate the named workflow by themselves.

Save settings without overwriting another operator

Edit a value and confirm Unsaved changes appears. Select Save Settings and wait for Settings saved successfully. The server validates values, tenant scope, active recommendation products, and the version loaded by the page. If another operator saved after you loaded the page, refresh and apply your decision again instead of overwriting newer settings.

Reset to Defaults stages the English defaults in the current page, including USD, Draft, English, retail availability, and disabled manual kiosk recommendations. It is not persisted until you select Save Settings. Description Language is fixed to English (US) for this project.

Choose the availability policy

Use Availability Policy to choose one of two catalog-snapshot behaviors:

  • Retail: auto Out of Stock when inventory is zero uses inventory quantity to stop sale.
  • Restaurant: manual Sold Out tag from product module stops sale only when an operator marks the product Sold Out.

Save, then refresh and verify the affected POS, kiosk, and display catalog for the correct tenant. Changing the policy does not repair missing inventory mappings or clear an existing Sold Out flag.

Configure kiosk cart recommendations

Enable Use Admin-selected recommendation items, set Max items to show from 1 to 12, and use Category filter or Search products to find active products. Select products up to the maximum, drag them under Selected display order, and save.

The server accepts only active, non-archived products from the current tenant. The Kiosk catalog snapshot receives the enabled flag, maximum, and ordered product IDs. Verify a fresh kiosk cart session; saving settings is not proof that every selected product is currently sellable, visible, or compatible with the cart.

Understand stored-preference boundaries

Default Currency and Tax Rate here do not replace payment currency or live POS tax configuration. Default Product Status does not remove the need to verify each new product. Inventory tracking, low-stock alerts, code generation, image compression and limits, marketing eligibility, social, marketplace, AI drafting, reviews, ratings, bulk pricing, variants, and SEO controls are currently stored policy preferences on this page.

Those preference toggles do not send alerts, generate codes, compress images, generate descriptions, run AI, create reviews or pricing tiers, publish content, or enable a provider integration by themselves. Use the authoritative Inventory, POS Settings, product editor, marketing, and publishing workflows, and verify their real output separately.
