Connect Zoho Mail Business Email

Last updated 2026-08-073 min read

Connect Zoho Mail with a dedicated app password, the correct account region, and a required delivery test.

On this page

Zoho Mail can be connected with a mailbox username and a Zoho app password so supported Ellich operational messages use the business's existing sender. Use an app password created for this connection, not the mailbox's everyday sign-in password. This setup may be visible only to organizations included in the controlled email field pilot.

Prepare the Zoho mailbox

Sign in to the correct Zoho account using Zoho's own website. Confirm that outgoing mail is enabled and create a new app password for Ellich according to the organization's Zoho security policy. Record it only long enough to complete setup; never paste it into a support message.

Know the account's Zoho region. Ellich offers United States / Global, Europe, India, Australia, Japan, and China. Choosing the wrong region can make a correct username and app password fail. The sender address must belong to the mailbox or be an alias that Zoho permits it to use.

Choose the company or location scope

Open Admin / Communications / Email, then choose:

  • Company default to serve locations that do not have their own sender.
  • This location to override the company default only at the current location.

Select Connect Zoho and enter the sender name, sender email, monitored reply-to email, mailbox username, Zoho app password, and account region. Saving the form stores the connection in a test-required state; it does not activate sending by itself.

Connecting Zoho does not change MX records or nameservers. Keep SPF, DKIM, and DMARC under the control of the Zoho or domain administrator. The reply-to address controls where customer replies arrive and can differ from the sender when the business has an approved workflow.

Send and confirm the test

Enter an approved Test recipient and select Send test. A successful test is required before Ellich uses the sender. Accepted means Zoho accepted the message for processing; it is not proof of inbox delivery. Check the inbox and spam folder and review Recent email activity for any later delivery evidence.

During the field pilot, only approved organizations and test recipients can use this path. Do not test with a customer address when the page reports that the recipient is outside the pilot.

If authentication fails, verify the region, full mailbox username, and newly created app password. Repeatedly entering the normal password can trigger provider security controls and does not fix the connection.

Disconnect and retire the app password

Select Disconnect beside the sender in Ellich. Next, return to Zoho's security settings and delete the app password created for Ellich; disconnecting Ellich should not be treated as proof that the provider-side password was removed. Confirm whether the location now inherits a company default or has no sender.

For compatibility controls, domain details, and recipient blocks, see Configure and test outbound email. Do not share app passwords, full error screenshots containing account details, or DNS account access with support.
