Ellich Managed Email is an optional delivery service for supported automated operational messages. It does not create or replace a mailbox. The business keeps its normal inbox, and customer replies continue to the reply-to address chosen during setup. Managed Email requires the appropriate organization entitlement and may be available only in a controlled field pilot.
Decide where Managed Email applies
Open Admin / Communications / Email and review the company, current location, rollout state, and Managed Email card. Choose the scope before selecting Prepare managed delivery:
- Company default applies to locations that do not have a location-specific override.
- This location applies only to the current location and takes priority over the company default there.
An upgrade-required, disabled, or pilot-only status is not proof of a billing or mailbox problem. Do not change the current working sender unless the organization has been approved and the Managed Email option is ready.
Prepare the sender and reply path
Enter the sender name, sender email, monitored reply-to email, and sending domain. The sender email must use the sending domain. The reply-to address can remain the business's existing Google, Microsoft, Zoho, or other inbox; that is where customer replies should arrive.
Saving these details prepares the connection but does not activate it. Managed Email may require DNS records that prove the business controls the sending domain. Use only the exact records supplied through the approved Ellich setup process. DNS changes can take time to appear.
Do not change MX records or nameservers unless the domain owner separately approves a mailbox or hosting change. Managed Email normally needs sending-authentication records, not control of the company's incoming mail. Coordinate SPF, DKIM, and DMARC changes with the domain administrator so existing mail services remain valid.
Complete verification and testing
Wait until the sender and domain are reported ready, then enter an approved Test recipient and select Send test. A successful test is required before the route can be used. Accepted means the managed email service received the message; it is not confirmation that the destination inbox received it. Check the inbox and spam folder and use Recent email activity for later delivery, bounce, or failure evidence when available.
Field-pilot controls can restrict both the organization and the permitted test recipients. A pilot block should be resolved through the named pilot owner, not by using a customer address or enabling a legacy fallback.
Disconnect or return to a business mailbox
Select Disconnect to stop using that Managed Email connection. Verify the effective sender afterward: a location may inherit a separate company default, or it may show no configured sender. Disconnecting does not authorize removal of DNS records. Ask the domain administrator and Ellich support to confirm which records are no longer needed before deleting anything.
Managed Email is for operational delivery; Marketing remains a separate product and must not use a staff mailbox or this operational route. For compatibility controls, DNS details, and recipient blocks, see Configure and test outbound email. Never send DNS account passwords, secret keys, or full authentication records in a support request.
